.
In http://energyefficientbuild.blogspot.com/2012/05/footings-for-new-icf-house-in.html I talked about the footings for this new ICF house in Southeastern Michigan. Now let me share with you some pictures of the concrete placement in the basement walls that I took during my field visit to the project site this morning.

Footings For New ICF House In Southeastern Michigan -- ANAND Enterprises Project EneE1J1201

This Energy Efficient House has IntegraSpec Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) walls -- we have designed the floors to be supported on open web steel joists and joist girders ... so the entire basement would be practically column free, the walls footings use Form-A-Drain to serve as form work for concrete footings, drain tiles, and for trapping redon gas; the few columns we do have in the stair walls will be on isolated footings; the back side of the house is a walkout where I designed the footings to be Frost Protected Shallow Foundation to avoid unnecessary expense of deeper excavation and larger amount of concrete. I had taken some pictures when I was out in the field ... so let me have the pictures do the talking.

Tornados Hit Ann Arbor Michigan Area -- Mar-15-2012
Tornados Hit Ann Arbor Michigan Area
Mar-15-2012
I had gone for a Field Visit to Grass Lake Area the afternoon of March 15th and on my way back I was passing through Scio Township area around 3:15 PM
This is about the earliest in the season that a tornado has hit this area-- there has been extensive damage to some houses especially in Dexter Township -- thankfully there is no news of personal injury. In the following I present some pictures from the web that really saddens me to see extensive damage to some houses.
